back to climbing

my climbing gear my climbing gear:

Over the years I've been climbing (not just towers) I've assembled a fairly large amount of tool, gear,
and rope. Although some of my gear and all of my rope started out what I'd term "hardware store" grade,
I've learned a lot and my equipment has evolved to be safe and flexible.

Nowadays I keep two main bags for tower work. My "climbing bag" is a large gun range bag that has a big
main area as well as six big pockets on it, where I keep everything I need for climbing, short of rope and
tools. That bag is kept at home and loaded up on any planned climb.

The other is my "go bag", which is kept in my truck. It supports my range bag on planned climbs, but can work
as an unplanned climb support bag, since it contains the minimum requirements for a basic climb, including
harness and small assortment of support gear. It also has 135ft of heavy lift rope that frequently gets used
on planned climbs.

I keep several other smaller bags in the house, for specific scenarios:
- belay bag (300ft of dynamic rope)
- gin pole and stand (for tower section or antenna set-up or take-down.
- long lift bag (300ft of heavy static line plus 300ft of tether/tag line)
- tower tool box (small canvas tool box filled with frequently used tools)
- tower bag (mainly tools for separating and joining tower sections, also includes a full wrench set)
- tower hardware box (wide variety of stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, etc)
